About
Product engineer in San Francisco building consumer AI, computer vision systems, and immersive XR.
Hello, I'm Juyoung Kim, a Software Engineer and Product Builder based in San Francisco.
I like working at both ends of the stack: the backend systems that have to be right, and the user experience that has to feel right. Currently I'm the Founding iOS Engineer at Second Nature Computing, building Poppy, a proactive AI assistant. Before that I spent three years on data infrastructure at Wells Fargo. On my own time I've shipped immersive 3D/XR products for the Apple Vision Pro and TAPE, a computer-vision system that turns MMA broadcasts into verified fight analytics.
What I do
- Ship end-to-end products: I take ideas from 0 to 1, from database architecture (Supabase/Postgres) to native UI (SwiftUI/React/Next.js).
- Build immersive tech: Gaussian splats, VR180 video, and shared spatial experiences on visionOS, usually in territory where there's no reference implementation to copy.
- Design reliable systems: I bring the habits of banking infrastructure (observability, validation, graceful failure) to products that ship fast.
Why I like this work
My favorite projects need both creative prototyping and systems engineering: a sync engine that makes watching a fight with a friend in VR feel effortless, or a data pipeline honest enough that a coach trusts its numbers. First it has to work. Then it should feel like magic.
